The Journey: A Storywork Group for Men

You are invited on an adventure.
There will be a few other men like you, an expert guide, and vast swaths of wilderness where we are bound to encounter risk, rest, and no doubt some much-needed laughter.
Of course the terrain we are traversing this time isn’t a deep forest we could find on a map. It’s the wilderness of a man’s soul. Of your soul. As men, the topography of our internal world has features like mountains where we feel powerful, there are meadows where we are comfortable, and there are valleys and dark places where we don’t often go, but we are very aware that they exist.
And perhaps today you find yourself with the courage to walk into some of those darker places - where the old and painful stories live - together with a wise guide and other good men. And perhaps you’d be willing to walk into some of those wild places in the hearts of other men as well. Because healing is worth it. Because you’re tired of living in the same broken cycles of pain and shame. Because you hope that a more expansive and love-filled life might be possible. You want that for yourself, and you’re willing to help other men find it as well.

Over ten Friday mornings we will learn about ourselves through instruction offered by Jeremy, then walk with courage into the stories and hearts of the men we have gathered with. Each week you will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and heal; and during one of the weeks you will be invited to share a story from your past which you’ve prepared with Jeremy’s guidance.
This group is a good fit for you if…

✓ You long to experience freedom in an atmosphere surrounded by brothers who get what you’re going through.
✓ You feel shame or brokenness in your sexual story.
✓ You wrestle with pornography use or other unwanted sexual behavior.
What you can expect to receive…

You will receive 15 hours of instruction and guided conversation with other men in pursuit of wholeness and healing. Instruction and conversation around identity, risk, belonging, shame, sexuality, brotherhood, and blessing.
Each man will have a pre-work writing assignment that Jeremy will engage to prepare you to share your story in a group.

You will have the opportunity to share your story in a safe atmosphere with attunement and kindness.
You will be invited to step out of isolation and into connection.

You will gain a vision for your past and your future that invites you to hope.
A Typical Group:
In each session (not including the first and last sessions), you’ll receive about 30 minutes of teaching followed by about 60 minutes of processing and guided exploration into stories of the men in the group.

Meet your facilitator
Jeremy is a Storywork Coach at ReStory as well as the Director of Restorative Experiences at Restoration Project, a non-profit organization focused on men.
Having grown up in a family of lumberjacks where hunting, fishing, and hiking trips were constantly on the calendar, Jeremy found himself in typically masculine spaces from a very young age. While he loved the risk and adventure of it all, Jeremy found that the level of authentic friendship and brotherhood he experienced in those spaces left him wondering what was wrong and aware that he wanted more. And, he realized two important truths: First, all men ache for deep connection, and we can't find it on our own. Second, our stories - whether told around campfires or Zoom meetings - are the best path to finding the connection we ache for.
Jeremy has spent the past 20 years as a pastor, missionary, international disaster response manager, and pastoral counselor. Today, he leads men all around the world into the deep wilderness of the soul. In group and one-on-one settings, Jeremy's passion is guiding people toward wholeness, freedom, and connection.
